Choosing a news client can be intimidating, considering there are about a hundred news clients that I researched writing for this article. When choosing a news client, you should look for the following features:

Performance
A slow news client is a frustrating news client. Make sure the news client you're using is fast, reliable, and has a proven track record.

Price
Price is always a factor, but most shareware or free news clients just don't have the features I am interested in. Try different news clients, as most have monthly free trials. Purchase the news client that is easiest for you.

Search Capability
Some news clients have the capability to search within the 110K+ Newsgroups that are available on Usenet. Some search features among news clients function differently, be sure to try out different clients until you find one you are comfortable with.
