A news client is a software program that enables you to read and post articles on Usenet Newsgroups.

News Clients work by communicating with Usenet servers through the NNTP protocol.

News Clients allow you to view articles in newsgroups, subscribe to newsgroups, and post new articles to the newsgroup of your choice. If you want to participate in Usenet, you’ll need to download and install a news client.

Read our “Picking a News Client” section for information on selection criteria, a list of free and paid news clients, and links to instructions on how to download and install specific news clients.
